IRC and ERC Registration in Bangladesh: Complete Import & Export Guide

Any business enterprise planning to import raw materials or commercial goods into Bangladesh, or export finished products globally, must secure an Import Registration Certificate (IRC) or Export Registration Certificate (ERC) from the Office of the Chief Controller of Imports and Exports (CCI&E).

Pre-requisite Note: Before applying for an IRC or ERC, an enterprise must hold an active Trade License, a 12-digit e-TIN, a 13-digit online BIN, and valid membership in a recognized trade chamber or association.

Category Allocations for IRC

The government categorizes commercial importers by annual import value brackets:

  • Up to BDT 5 Lakh
  • Up to BDT 25 Lakh
  • Up to BDT 50 Lakh
  • Up to BDT 1 Crore
  • Above BDT 1 Crore

Statutory government fees and annual renewal charges scale according to the selected import ceiling.

Online Application via the CCI&E Portal

  • Apply via the Online Licensing Module (OLM) portal.
  • Upload scanned copies of Trade License, BIN, e-TIN, Chamber Membership Certificate, and bank solvency proof.
  • Pay government registration fees and statutory VAT via automated Treasury Challan.
  • Download the digital IRC/ERC certificate upon verification by CCI&E inspectors.
